Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir appealed people in general and pro-freedom leaders in particular to come forward and initiate a well organized program to safeguard the state of Jammu and Kashmir from malafide intent elements and urges people to be united against the vicious move of abrogating Article 35 (A).

People of the state had been guaranteed by India that through a free and fair plebiscite they will be given a chance to decide their political destination but government of India subsequently backtracked from its commitment and people at helm in the state from time to time paved way for India to scrap that position’, reads statement issued by Press & Publication Division.

Jama’at said ‘the ruling class has been given no mandate from people of state to fiddle with article 35 (A) and successive regimes in the state made cracks to the special status of the state by cheating common people and had been never tried to take people on board’.

Lambasting over the role of mainstream parties on beating chests, Jama’at said pro-Indian parties and elements are solely responsible for this mess. Successive governments of the state repeatedly perforated the wall of special status and now current coalition partners are pushing last nail in this wretched and pierced wall’.

Jama’at urges people of the state to be vigilant at this juncture and appeals them to don’t support the elements who for their personal and party benefits are swindling with special status of state. Jama’at believes failure of such sinful attempts that are aimed to weaken the Muslim majority character of state is indispensable and need of the hour. Pro-people leaders, organizations and institutions are appealed to come forward and play its effective role and initiate a well planned awareness program so that common masses will not be deceived.
